Hello, I’m Xiwen Zhang. I am a high school student from Long Island who loves animals and science. Caring for my own family pets made me curious about animal health, which led me to study bee disease transmission at UMass Amherst, horses and equine veterinary medicine at UC Davis, and zoo medicine at Capron Park Zoo in Massachusetts. I also volunteer at North Shore Animal League, my local animal shelter. I aim to become a veterinarian and improve the affordability of veterinary care for all families. I also want to design a universal warning icon for household or medicinal products harmful to pets to warn and educate people.
